Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using the BlockBots platform. By accessing our services, you agree to be bound by this agreement.

Last updated: May 7, 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Agreement") constitute a legally binding contract between you ("Customer", "you", or "your") and BlockBots ("Company", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of the BlockBots platform, including all associated software, APIs, dashboards, documentation, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account, subscribing to any plan, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement in its entirety. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to this Agreement.

If you do not agree to these terms, you must not access or use the Service. We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time. Changes will be communicated via email or through the platform. Your continued use of the Service following notification of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Agreement.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of this Agreement, the following terms shall have the meanings set out below:

  • "Service" means the BlockBots bot detection, traffic filtering, and abuse prevention platform, including all APIs, dashboards, integrations, and documentation.
  • "Customer Data" means traffic metadata, IP addresses, request headers, behavioral signals, and other data submitted to or processed by the Service on your behalf.
  • "Subscription" means the paid or free-tier access plan under which you use the Service.
  • "Authorized Users" means your employees, contractors, or agents who you permit to access the Service under your account.
  • "Detection Output" means any classification, score, label, or action produced by the Service in response to analyzed traffic, including bot/human classifications.

3. Service Description

BlockBots provides a defensive cybersecurity platform designed to help website and API operators identify and mitigate automated abuse, including bot traffic, credential stuffing, scraping, click fraud, and similar threats. The Service analyzes incoming traffic metadata and behavioral signals to generate Detection Output that customers can use to take protective action.

The Service is intended solely for lawful, defensive purposes — protecting your own digital properties from abuse. BlockBots is not an offensive security tool and must not be used to surveil, target, or harm any individual or third-party system.

We continuously work to improve the accuracy of our detection models; however, no automated detection system is perfect. Detection Output may include false positives (legitimate users classified as bots) or false negatives (bots that are not detected). You acknowledge that BlockBots does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any Detection Output, and that you are solely responsible for how you act upon it.

4. Account Registration & Security

To access the Service, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete, and current information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

You agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
  • Immediately notify us of any unauthorized access to or use of your account.
  • Not share your account credentials with any person outside your authorized users.
  • Not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or access restrictions.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your account.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

Your use of the Service must comply with all applicable laws and regulations. You agree not to use the Service — directly or indirectly — for any of the following:

  • Any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any local, national, or international law or regulation.
  • Targeting, monitoring, or processing traffic belonging to third parties without their explicit authorization.
  • Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with security features of the Service or any connected system.
  • Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code or detection logic from the Service.
  • Transmitting malicious code, viruses, or any software designed to damage or disrupt systems.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or redistributing access to the Service without prior written authorization from BlockBots.
  • Generating excessive API requests that degrade performance or availability for other customers.
  • Using Detection Output to unlawfully discriminate against, profile, or harm any individual.
  • Facilitating or enabling any offensive cyberattack, including denial-of-service attacks, phishing, or data theft.

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to suspend or terminate accounts engaged in prohibited conduct, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

6. Data Processing & Privacy

In providing the Service, BlockBots processes Customer Data on your behalf. This data includes traffic metadata such as IP addresses, HTTP request headers, device fingerprints, and behavioral signals. Such data is processed exclusively for the purpose of delivering bot detection and abuse prevention functionality.

We do not sell Customer Data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising purposes. Aggregated, anonymized, and non-identifiable data may be used internally to improve the accuracy and performance of our detection models.

Raw traffic logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days. Aggregated analytics may be retained for a longer period for service improvement purposes. All data is stored using industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.

To the extent that Customer Data includes personal data as defined under applicable data protection legislation (including GDPR, CCPA, or similar frameworks), BlockBots acts as a data processor on your behalf. You, as the data controller, are responsible for ensuring you have a lawful basis for processing such data and for maintaining appropriate notices and consents with your end users.

You may request deletion of your account data at any time by contacting us at support@blockbots.org. Deletion requests will be processed within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

7. Service Availability & Limitations

BlockBots targets high availability and strives to maintain reliable service; however, we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate operation of the Service. The Service is provided on an "as available" basis.

Specifically, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, or events beyond our reasonable control.
  • Detection Output is probabilistic in nature and does not constitute a guarantee of complete or perfect protection against automated abuse.
  • False positives (legitimate traffic classified as bots) and false negatives (bot traffic that is not detected) are inherent characteristics of any automated detection system.
  • BlockBots is not liable for any harm, loss of revenue, or damage caused by false positives blocking legitimate users or false negatives failing to block harmful traffic.
  • Threat landscapes evolve continuously; new bot techniques may not be immediately detected by the Service.

We will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify customers of planned maintenance in advance and to restore service as promptly as practicable following any unplanned outage.

8. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in and to the Service, including but not limited to software, algorithms, detection models, trademarks, trade names, logos, documentation, and user interface designs, are and shall remain the exclusive property of BlockBots and its licensors.

Subject to your compliance with this Agreement and timely payment of applicable fees, BlockBots grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use the Service solely for your internal business purposes during the term of your Subscription.

Nothing in this Agreement transfers any ownership rights to you. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on the Service or any part thereof. You retain all ownership rights to your Customer Data.

9. Billing, Subscriptions & Refunds

Access to paid features of the Service requires a valid Subscription. By subscribing, you authorize us (or our payment processor) to charge your designated payment method on a recurring basis at the rates in effect for your selected plan.

  • Billing cycle: Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on your selected plan.
  • Price changes: We reserve the right to modify pricing with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your Subscription at any time through your account dashboard. Upon cancellation, your access will continue until the end of the current paid billing period, after which it will not renew.
  • Refunds: We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new Subscriptions if the Service materially fails to perform as described. After this period, subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
  • Taxes: All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for paying any taxes, levies, or duties imposed by your jurisdiction.
  • Failed payments: If a payment fails, we may suspend your access to the Service until payment is resolved. We will attempt to notify you before suspension where practicable.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

Either party may terminate this Agreement at any time. You may terminate by cancelling your Subscription and ceasing use of the Service. We may terminate or suspend your account under the following circumstances:

  • You materially breach this Agreement and fail to cure the breach within 7 days of written notice.
  • You engage in conduct that violates our Acceptable Use Policy (Section 5).
  • Your account is involved in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
  • You fail to pay applicable fees and do not resolve the outstanding balance within a reasonable period.
  • We are required to do so by law or regulatory authority.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service immediately ceases. We will retain your data for up to 30 days following termination, after which it may be permanently deleted. You are responsible for exporting any data you wish to retain prior to termination.

Provisions of this Agreement that by their nature should survive termination shall do so, including but not limited to Sections 8, 11, 12, 13, and 15.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

BLOCKBOTS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT; WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS; WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR FREE FROM ERRORS; AND WARRANTIES AS TO THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF ANY DETECTION OUTPUT.

No advice, information, or statement obtained from BlockBots, whether oral or written, shall create any warranty not expressly stated in this Agreement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; in such cases, the above exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BLOCKBOTS, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill.
  • Cost of procurement of substitute services.
  • Damages arising from false positive or false negative Detection Output.
  • Damages arising from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
  • Damages arising from service interruptions, outages, or delays.

IN ALL CASES, BLOCKBOTS' TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO BLOCKBOTS IN THE THREE (3) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100).

The limitations in this section apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if BlockBots has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability exclusions; in such cases, this limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BlockBots and its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use of the Service in violation of this Agreement.
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Your infringement of any third-party intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Any Customer Data you submit to or process through the Service.
  • Actions taken by you based on Detection Output provided by the Service.

14. Modifications to the Service & Terms

BlockBots reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of material changes that may affect your use of the Service.

We may update this Agreement at any time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where changes are material, provide notice via email or in-platform notification. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you must discontinue use of the Service and cancel your Subscription before the changes take effect.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. You and BlockBots agree to attempt to resolve any dispute arising under this Agreement informally in the first instance by contacting us at support@blockbots.org.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis. You waive any right to participate in class-action proceedings. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights or confidential information.

Notwithstanding the above, customers located in jurisdictions where mandatory consumer protection laws apply shall retain all rights afforded to them under such laws.

16. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and BlockBots with respect to the Service and supersedes all prior understandings, agreements, or representations.
  • Severability: If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
  • Waiver: Failure by BlockBots to enforce any provision of this Agreement shall not constitute a waiver of future enforcement of that or any other provision.
  • Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under this Agreement without BlockBots' prior written consent. We may assign this Agreement in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Force Majeure: Neither party shall be liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, or internet infrastructure failures.
  • No Agency: Nothing in this Agreement creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between the parties.
